Township Hall

The residents voted to purchase land for a new town hall at their annual meeting. Donations have been coming in so the Town Board purchased plaques to list any donation over $50.00.
 
Comprehensive Growth Plan
 
The township is working on a comprehensive growth plan.    Watch this website for more details. 

 

Maine Prairie Township was established in 1856.   

The settlers from Maine established a community that grew into a vigorous pioneer village that included 3 churches and stores, two lodge halls a blacksmith shop and a cheese factory.   

The original building site was located 5 miles north of Kimball near the intersection of County Road 8 and Highway 15.   View History of Maine Prairie.

The township is located in Stearns County in Central Minnesota.    It includes the towns of Kimball and Marty (Pearl Lake).

Township Officer Election - Open 1 Supervisor seat for a 3 year term

Filing for Township 3 Year term Supervisor is now closed.  Those filing are James Unterberger and Ronald Kuechle.  March 9th- Election begins at 12:00 noon with polls closing at 8:00 p.m.  Annual meeting begins at 8:30 p.m. or as soon there after as possible at the Kimball Area Fire and Rescue Hall, 300 N Elm St in Kimball. 

Items on the Agenda: New Town Hall Land, Road Issues, Levy , New Comprehensive Growth Plan, Fire Contacts and other information to be added at a later date.

Comprehensive Growth Meeting will be February 25th to begin at 7:00 p.m.  The new zoning maps will be reviewed.  Finalization of the Comprehensive Plan will take place at a hearing on March 25th, 2010 at the Kimball Area Fire and Rescue Hall.  This is open to the public.

Notice of Meeting Change date:  March regular board meeting date has been changed to March 4th, 2010 due to the election and annual meeting on the regular meeting date. 

City of Kimball/Maine Prairie Board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. February 4th, at the Kimball City Hall.

Maine Prairie township has now become a two precinct township.  Both precincts will be voting at the Kimball Area Fire & Rescue Hall, 300 N Elm St, Kimball.  The Rockville detachment residents will be in Precinct 2, receiving a different ballot because of the different voting district they reside in.  The rest of the township will be in Precinct 1.  This does not pertain to the township elections, only for the general election.
