Maine Prairie Township
Planning & Zoning Meeting
June 14, 2011
Chair Loewen opened the Planning meeting at 7:00 p.m. He called
for any corrections or additions to the minutes. With no changes,
Supervisors Wicker/Kuechle made a motion to approve the minutes.
Motion carried.
Old Business: Mackereth old gravel pit land. Clerk Harff
reported that she received a call from Jody’s real estate agent
questioning if a building entitlement is on the old gravel pit land.
The county will allow a building entitlement on the 3.99 acre parcel but
not on the .69 parcel across the road, it will be restricted. All
this land is zoned R1. Jody also requested an application for a
gravel mining permit for the land he purchased on 150th street. He
was informed the paperwork needs to be given to the clerk along with
$150.00 by June 27th, so there can be a hearing at the July 12th
meeting. Discussion was will Jody be able to have one on 150th
North of Kimball.
New Business: Roger & Sandra Collins hearing – County notes were
reviewed where the county accepted the screen porch along with an
after-the-fact fine. The board didn’t feel that decision was
acceptable. The board mentioned that last year, something very
similar happen but they were required to remove the building built.
The board felt the township should be consistent but since the county
accepted it, the only option the township has is not to accept the
building inspection until an after-the-fact fine is paid.
Supervisor Wicker/Chuck Froehling made a motion to impose a $1,000.00
fine. Motion carried.
Steve Yozamp was present to ask the board for a signature on his site
permit. He plans to move in a 28’X48’ pre-fab home on his 40
acres. He has gone to the county and needed the township to sign
off on a site permit. He also requested to renew his Dog Kennel
Permit.
John Adolph – Stated that he received a bill from the City stating he
owed $449.50 for the legal paperwork to put his irrigation pipe
underground. Discussion was: he is the one to benefit, the
taxpayers should not pay for something that he only benefits from.
He was told to bring the issue up with the city since the bill came from
them. He also felt the bill should be split three ways with each
entity paying a third. Adolph also was concerned about the culvert
work on 83rd and 135th Street. He said no blanket was laid so the
land washed into his field. When they came to repair the damage,
they went off the right of way into his has field. He would like
coverage for the damage to his field. Adolph also stated that many
years ago he had to plow a furrow in order to get the water out of his
field. He was questioned why he would do that in the right of way.
The damage will be looked at by all the supervisors and review it again
at the July meeting.
Permits were presented: The Roger Collins permit was reviewed and
not accepted until a letter is sent out. All other permits
were approved with a motion by Supervisors Wicker/Kuechle. Motion
carried.
