Weeds & Road Right-of-Ways
It is the responsibility of the land owner to clear trees and brush 33’ from the center of a township road. It is also the responsibility of the land owner to control noxious weeds on their property. It is state law that the supervisors inspect properties in the township for noxious weeds and safety issues. Maine Prairie has a big problem with noxious weeds growing in pastures and on CRP land. Right of Way issues are brought up at meetings regularly. You cannot build, put up a sign, pile rocks and plant trees, flowers or crops in the road right of way. It is a state law to keep all the rights of ways cleared for safety reasons. A Township road right of way is 33’ from the center of the road. Please help to keep the road right of ways open and clean. Thank You!!!
