Board Meeting Minutes
Maine Prairie Township
October 11, 2016

Attendees: Chair Wicker, Supervisor Kuechle, Supervisor Loewen,  Clerk/Treasurer Hunt, Deputy Clerk Robinson, Joe Hendricks, Gene Merten, Edward Stein, Ron Fink, John & Lois Loch.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Wicker with the pledge to the flag.

Planning and Zoning meeting opened at 7:00 p.m.

Board meeting reconvened at 7:30 p.m.

Supervisor Loewen made a correction to the September 13, Board meeting minutes omitting “give estimates” under 2016 Road Projects. Motion by Supervisors Loewen/Kuechle to approve the September 13th Board meeting minutes with correction. All in favor, motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report was reviewed.
Eight (8) claims were presented for approval and payment for the month of September in the amount of $9,266.24 (see claims list attached). In addition payroll expenses for 3rd quarter 2016 were paid in the amount of $5,049.56. Receipts for September totaled $688.88.  Motion by Supervisor Loewen/Chair Wicker to approve the Treasurer’s report subject to Audit and pay claims as presented. All in favor, motion carried.

New Business:
Snow Plowing Quotes:  Solicitation for quotes for snowplowing will be published in the Tri-County News October 20 and October 27. Quotes are due on or before the November 15th Board meeting. Quotes will be opened at 7:15 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, at the November 15th meeting.

County Mileage Report Form: County Mileage Report:  The Township Road Mileage Certification Form is complete and Clerk Hunt will send to the County.

November Board Meeting:
Due to the General Election falling on the same day as the monthly Township meeting, Motion by Chair Loewen/Supervisor Wicker to move the November Planning and Zoning and Board Meetings to Tuesday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. All in favor, motion passed.

Signage – Edom Road: The issue of appropriate signage on Edom Road was brought to the Board’s attention. After viewing the road, Supervisor Loewen found that Edom Road was not identified on either end. Supervisor Loewen has instructed Clerk Hunt to order two (2) Edom Road signs, one (1) 202nd Street sign, one (1) 131st Avenue sign and, one (1) Evergreen Road sign.

Clerk Hunt will also order one (1) Stop Ahead sign for 103rd Avenue and two (2) Stop signs.

Old Business:
2016 Road Projects/83rd Avenue: The Board discussed 83rd Avenue road improvement project. The 83rd Avenue Geotechnical Report, prepared by Independent Testing Technologies has been sent to Randy Sabart,( SEH) Short Elliot Hendrickson. Supervisor Loewen to follow up by email.

Lakeside Court – Sherman Minter:  A Course of action will be determined after viewed by a Township Engineer.

Discussion Items:

  • Clerk Hunt to register Supervisor Loewen for Online Board of Appeals Training.
  • Supervisor Kuechle and Chair Wicker to attend the Semi-Annual Mtg of the Town Officers Assoc. Freeport, Thursday, October 27. No reservation needed.

There being no further business, motion by Supervisors Loewen/Kuechle to adjourn the Board meeting at 8:20 p.m. All in favor, motion carried.
